Water Cooling

An online guide to water cooling

Welcome To WaterCooling.co.uk

Welcome to the world of water cooling, this site has been setup to help share information and advice on everything related to keeping your computer system cool.

Water cooling is becoming increasingly popular for cooling computer systems and not just within the gaming community. There are two real advantages which make water cooling better choice than air cooling, they are:

  • The ability to run an almost silent computer - The noise you hear coming from your computer is almost always from the fans which push hot air away from the main components, so without any fans you'll have a much quieter if not silient system.
  • Increased performance / longer component life - Overclocking some of the latest CPU's will mean they're creating alot more heat which air cooling will struggle to dissipate that can lead to the computer restarting under load or in the worst case frying itself. Water cooling can be a much more efficient way of taking the heat out of the system.

Theory Behind Water Cooling
Water has a higher heat capacity, density and thermal conductivity than air so it's idea for taking heat away from your components. As the picture above shows with an air cooling system a fan will blow the warm air away from components and out of the case. This can't be done with water so instead it's pumped out via tubing into a radiator where it's cooled before being pumped around once more to dissipate heat out of the system.
